Obsession

I get into these moods.

A new pattern comes out and I want to knit it. Now. Immediately. I spend my time trying to find the perfect yarn to make the perfect sweater.

It has happened with this one. And this one. Most recently, this one.

Then I don't knit them.

I've done some thinking about this and why I don't follow through. I think it has to do with being worried about being let down. I'm a glass is half empty kind of person. I automatically think it just won't turn out. It'll be too small, or too large, or not flattering. I'll be horribly disappointed.

I retain my obsession with them, but I don't want to be let down.

The newest sweater on the block is in the most recent Vogue Knitting.

So will I actually follow through on this one? I feel like doing some fall knitting and this would be perfect.

I think I need to go peruse my Knitpicks options....

A Barrage of Bullets

This is total blogging laziness...I'm aware. No full sentences today, just a barrage of bullets or as I read another blogger refer to it one time as "blogging prison-style (bring on the bullets)":

  • Finished these lovelies in about 3 days. As requested by the birthday girl. And deemed as being "cool".

  • Have been working on a top secret project - it is also completed.....and just needs some minor sewing (I think I actually have to pull out my sewing machine...yikes). It's pink and girly and definitely not for anyone in my house.

  • A lot of people have been asking me about my Sunrise Circle. It's currently in the pond de grenouille. Probably will be restarted in the fall when the thought of working with heathered wool doesn't give me hives.

  • Got my most recent STR shipment and it does rock. It's my favorite color (ok, more like my 2nd favorite).

  • I started to make myself a summer top with a linen-cotton blend I got for Christmas. So far so good. I've never made any of Grumperina's designs (not even Jaywalkers) and I'm excited about this one.
  • Next on my list is this. One for Punky and one for Stinky. Fitting of course.

  • Following those projects, I need to figure out what to knit for a new baby that will be coming along in the fall. I am drawing some inspiration from this.

  • In the meantime, it's the weekend and I've got things to do, places to go and boys to entertain. No problem, right?
  • Yeah they look harmless don't they.....

Ya-da Ya-da Blah Blah Blah

I was going to blog today about the issues I'm having with my newest project (all sizing and gauge related) and then describe in grand detail my newest sock creation (a Baad Medicine Original - details coming soon)....

....but I just wasn't feeling it. Sorry - I don't have it in me today. I think it's related to 2 very early mornings, too many fevers in my house and too little coffee.

So, instead I leave you with this - my homage to 1970s fast food decor.

My goal for tonight - roll it into a ball.

Spring Fev-ah

I feel it. It's close.

Even though I look out the window and see the vast white of my backyard, I also see the patches of grass peaking out. It gives me hope that it isn't too far away. It's been cold. It's been snowy. It's been hard to get outside and entertain two monkeys. But the little bits of grass peaking out, the melting head of our snowman and the longer days are giving me, dare I say, hope.

With these thoughts of Spring being around the corner, it makes me want to knit something for spring. Something that isn't made of wool. Something made of a lightweight fabric (cotton, bamboo, linen....). Something that won't itch.

So, what are my possibilities?? I've been cruising the land of Ravelry and can't decide.

What about the new Aleita Shell from the Spring Interweave?

What about Eileen from No Sheep for You?

What's that? Is that my Cozy screaming at my? Or is it my newly cast-on Sunrise Circle Jacket?
Or these socks that I need to finish by next week?

What are they saying? I'm a two-timing ho??? Come on, that just isn't nice.

And quiet down already - I'm busy thinking....

(oh, I've figured out who it is...it's just J. saying that my old habits are hard to break.)

Inquiring minds want to know....

....what is next on my "to knit list"???

I have yarn (it's #4010).
I have a pattern.

And I'm so excited (and I just can't hide it. I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I want to -- Who doesn't love them some good Pointer Sisters?)

OK, back to reality, where I'm living in the year 2007, not 1982.

I'm more excited about this project than I've been for any project for a while now. I hope it lives up to my expectations. I've toyed with the idea of this project for a while now (J. says it's been years...) and once I put Cdnknitchick's on at SnB last week, I knew it was the next thing I needed to knit.

And since I just finished these....

...and these.....

I think a new undertaking is just what I need.
