The end of an era

From this...

(in his mother's knitwear right out of the gate....)

To this...

I can say a lot of cliches about where the time has gone. But they won't describe what I'm truly feeling on the eve of his school debut. Excitement, anxiety, nostalgia. Those words only touch the surface.

Mostly I feel love.

He's ready, he's going. He will develop his own little persona. It's good.

Indeed, words seem inadequate to describe the end of this era.

I’ll offer a Semisonic quote on this “Closing Time”, …“time for you to go out, go out into the world…Closing time - every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end”. Likely, the rest of the song will have more relevance sooner, rather than later.

Then again, maybe the cake and the smile say it best.

Here's to new beginnings!

Ah, what a milestone. May he meet everyone of them with that gorgeous smile.
