In Which Resolutions Are Made

2008 was a busy year in my house. I knit socks, sweaters, hats, shawls and a baby. Even with many finished projects to show off, I find myself swamped with stash. I also find myself feeling overwhelmed at times and with no time to look after myself.

Therefore, in the spirit of starting anew, I am going to try to make a dent in my stash this year and you are, too. If you want. Not forcing you or anything. Just thought it might be a good idea. So here's how it will work. Once I finish a project this year, I will total up the yards of yarn used up and tally it on the sidebar. If I receive or purchase yarn, I will tally it on the sidebar. The plan is to have used up more than I bring in. What seems like a reasonable figure? 1000 yards? 5000 yards? Perhaps it would be unwise to set a goal since this is my first attempt at stash busting. Let us just hope that I will be successful or I'll be doing this again next year.

I'll also be starting to run again. A treadmill in my basement and a supportive husband will hopefully help me to get my body back in shape. I hope to run a 10 km race by spring and perhaps go on to train for a half marathon. I'll be relying on you, Dear Reader, to keep me accountable for this one.

So there you have it. 2009 will be a year for stash busting and ass busting. Care to join me? (In either / or endeavor. And only if you want. We're all about individuality here at Baadmedicine Enterprises.) Send me a message on Ravelry or leave a comment here if you're feeling brave.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I would love to share my stash busting total with BM. I'm in a knitting hat trick for 3 hats in January so that will get me started.

Run J Run! Hopefully I can join you later this year.

And I DID IT! 24 pairs in 2008! See pics on Rav tomorrow!

I like the idea of a bit of stash busting. I've been thinking of getting mine down so that I can get some new stuff with a clear conscience. So I'm in. But as for the running? I don't do running but I do walk. Off to walk 4 km right now and hope to do so most days.

Dear J,
I am part way through a project from my stash??
How to count that ??
I do hope that I can create a negative yarn balance at my house.
Cheers Irene

Just to clarify, I think we'll count any yarn for projects that you finish in 2009. So no matter what year you started it, if you finish in the next 12 months, it counts.

I'd love to go running with you when you're ready for it, Catknip. And nice work on the socks!

If we're Baadmedicine Enterprises, and I the VP of Laziness? Can that be my title.

I'm in. For both. It might be a 5K though....

My goal is to be -5000yds by the end of the year.

Me too both please!

(I don't have to add up all my currents yards do I?)

The beauty of this plan is that you don't have to add up the current stash. I'm not ready for that

You know me by now, of course I am in for the stash busting. There is no more space available in my house.

Although I agree with Amanda, I don´t do running I prefer to walk. From tomorrow I will use my step-meter every day.

Happy New Year!

I'm up for both stash and ass busting. I was just thinking the other day that I should sign up for some races to keep me running. I'd be happy to do a 10K and possibly a half with you. Shall we discuss it over wine and yarn?
